URGENT: Blue & Gold Fleet to Discontinue Service Between San Francisco and Angel Island State Park12/15/2020
URGENT: Help ensure that the public will have access to Angel Island What: Blue & Gold Fleet has filed with the California Public Utilities Commission for Authorization to Discontinue Scheduled Passenger Transport Service Between San Francisco and Angel Island State Park (Application A.20-09-004) and between San Francisco and Tiburon (Application A.20-09-005). A decision might be made as soon as this week! What does this mean: Ending the ferry service would cut off thousands of students and visitors of all ages from visiting Angel Island and the US Immigration Station there, a designated National Heritage Site. During the years that the station was open from 1910-1940, the site was used to detain, interrogate, and process over 500,000 persons from 80 different countries. This history must be preserved. Approximately 50% of the visitors to the Immigration Station take the ferry from San Francisco. The public must have access! What can you do:
