We hope that you have had an opportunity to see the film, “Chinatown Rising,” either through the TACT-sponsored screening on November 2, 2019, or one of the other screenings in the community. This film has proven to be an invaluable documentary that charts the history of the Asian American civil rights movement of the 1960s through the 1980s.
TACT will be collaborating with the creators of the film, Harry Chuck and Josh Chuck, to create a Study Guide so that the film can be used as a resource for educators. We hope that the guide will be used for professional learning and to assist teachers with using the film in their classrooms to build cultural understanding and facilitate thought-provoking conversations. As an educator or community supporter, we are asking for your input and assistance as we develop this Study Guide. We will be holding a special screening of the 84-minute film, followed by a discussion and brainstorming session with the filmmakers and fellow educators in the coming months. If you are interested in working on this project with us or would like more information, please contact Christie Kitsuda at [email protected] by February 12th. |
