The school featured in our November Trivia Question is Gordon J. Lau Elementary, initially called the Chinese Primary School which opened in 1885. Although the school gave Chinese students access to a public school education, it was created specifically so that San Francisco could maintain segregation of its schools and separated "children of Mongolian or Chinese descent" from their peers.
