Updates from the TACT Curriculum Committee

4/21/2021

Picture
  • This year, TACT Curriculum Committee has been collaborating with the Asian American Studies Department at SFSU, SF Public Library, and Square and Circle Club to highlight court cases and individuals who advocated for social justice in the APIA community. The APIA Biography Project will introduce a series of events and resources in May.  See upcoming SF Public Library events featuring authors Oliver Chin and Tony Robles. Watch a special video of Tony Robles reading his book, Lakas and the Makibaka Hotel.  Illustrator Carl Angel talks about his creative process at the end of the reading.
  • TACT will be posting updated, digitized book recommendations soon!
  • TACT members continue to educate and build bridges between communities.  See presentations that pair prominent Asian Americans with African Americans prepared by Marie Tang, SFUSD school librarian. Please make your own copy if you wish to use and adapt.
    • Mamie Tape & Ruby Bridges
    • Jean Michel Basquiat and Maya Lin
    • Maya Angelou and Laurence Yep
  • Do you have a good idea, article, or resource to share? Publicize - The Association of Chinese Teachers (tactsf.org)
